Porphyry Stone

Porphyry is a type of natural stone, an igneous rock consisting of large crystals embedded in a fine matrix. It is used in construction due to its durability, aesthetic appeal, and versatility.

It is resistant to abrasion, scratches, and frost. Due to its hardness and density, it is suitable for various outdoor applications such as paving walkways, wall cladding, creating stone staircases, paths, courtyard and terrace paving, and making tombstones. It can also be used for interior wall and floor cladding, as well as fireplace surrounds, particularly in rustic or traditional decor styles.

The surface finish of Porphyry can be polished, flamed, or satinato. For outdoor flooring and staircases, a flamed finish is recommended due to the slip resistance of the surface. For indoor use, polished and satinato finishes are preferred for easier maintenance and aesthetics.

It is relatively easy to maintain. Regular cleaning with a mild detergent and water is usually sufficient to keep the surface of porphyry clean. For outdoor surfaces, occasional cleaning with a pressure washer can help remove dirt and algae.
