Types of Granite
Granite is one of the most popular natural materials used in construction due to its durability, aesthetic appeal, and versatile applications.
It is resistant to scratches, abrasion, heat, and stains. Because of its hardness and resilience, granite is ideal for floors, wall cladding, kitchen countertops, fireplace surrounds, staircases, bathrooms, outdoor cladding, tombstones, and other surfaces that require high wear resistance.
It can also be used to create tables, window sills, stone benches, garden paths, and other decorative elements.
The surface finish of granite can be polished, flamed, or satinato, depending on its intended use. For outdoor flooring and staircases, a flamed finish is recommended due to the slip resistance of the surface. For indoor use, polished and satinato finishes are preferred for easier maintenance and aesthetics.
Granite is relatively easy to maintain. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth and the use of mild detergents are usually sufficient to keep granite surfaces clean.
